Ridiculously Photogenic Guy

I'm sure having his picture go viral wasn't something 25-year-old Zeddie Little of New York had in mind when he signed up for the 10k race in Charleston, SC. But, by golly, that's what happened. I don't know how many of you have run a race where there was a camera involved, but usually when you're in it to win it you aren't thinking about the photographers snapping away at the sidelines.

However, Little was primed and ready. This picture became an internet sensation and has been viewed by around 1.4 million people in the past few days. Oh Internet.

So, having done some research on our Ridiculously Photogenic Guy this is what I've come up with:

  • Home boy is not single. He's been dating his girl for five years and has recently moved to New York with her. She's unsure of what to do with all of his "fame."
  • He's trying to break into the PR business. If the memes are correct, he'll get promotions just by  saying hello.
  • His father's name is Jack Little. (He has very little, jack little.)
  • He met his chick at a pizzeria in his hometown of Charleston.
  • Will King, a South Carolina systems analyst, found this picture of Zeddie while looking through his photos of last weekend's Cooper River Bridge 10k and uploaded it because of how different Zeddie looked from the others. Burn? Is it that he's smiling and everyone else is out of breath because they're running a 10k or everyone else is less fortunate in the good-looking category?
  • King's friend saw the picture and said, "I dub this man 'Ridiculously Photogenic Guy.'"
  • This picture received over 1.45 million hits on Reddit.com
  • Little doesn't want all of the attention and is trying to "lay low." (Good luck.)
  • A quote from King: "People have been calling me offering me money for the picture so they can use it in advertisements. I'm not selling it because I'd have to have Little's permission. It's his face." It certainly is his face.
  • Little's father said that he is very excited for Zeddie.
  • "Yeah, I mean he's always been very quiet and very conscientious and never wanted any attention, and I think he's very much deserving of it." He also said that his son is smart and ambitios while also interested in food and someone who is in tune with what's happening in New York. An odd description at the end, but hopefully girlfriend of five years is working on that.
That's it for the internet stalkage of Ridiculously Photogenic Guy. Is it bad that I have seen more people posting his meme than Kony 2012? I shouldn't be surprised, this is a society that revels in the fact that a zombie apocalypse might be nearing and has a slew of #firstworldproblems.

Here are some of my favorite memes of Zeddie Little!

Guest Blog: Everyone's a Reality Star

Second guest blog! Going strong!

Guest Blogger: Katy Williams

As I’m watching The Maury Show on this chilly winter morning, I’m asking myself,

“Who are these people that deem it appropriate to air their exceptionally dirty laundry on public television like this?”

Well, it might not be as uncommon as I thought.

Facebook statuses have evolved into an outlet for enraged, depressed and attention-seeking people. Out of my 900 friends, I’m sure my newsfeed has at least four statuses about someone’s personal problems as I’m writing this. Most of the time, it’s passive aggressive and to an ambiguous person, but every so often it’s very specific and juicy.

Jackpot!!

Breaking up with significant others, feuds between friends, and family issues galore! It blows my mind when people do this. What planet do these people live on where they think that it’s not only acceptable to do this, but that people genuinely care?

The few times I have paid any attention to it was because my friends and I were discussing it in a private message like it was a VH1 Reality Show. It’s like we’re the audience on Maury who scream and antagonize unsympathetically the entire time. (To all of you who write statuses like this, just know, we screenshot the most hilarious ones; therefore, your dirty laundry will live in infamy until the long awaited day each of our computers crash and we forgot to back-up our files.)

At first, I was embarrassed for people like this, but it seems like whenever I say anything, I’m the one who gets attacked. I’ve decided that I’m no longer going to try to intervene with this circus of emotions on a public forum. I’m just going to pop some popcorn and let myself be entertained. The best things in life really are free!

(except the popcorn)

iMenstruate

For the people that know me, know that I have a very thin filter between my brain and my mouth when it comes to my period. Sure, it isn't the best topic to bring up at the dinner table but when I'm around people I'm comfortable with, I won't extend the courtesy to pretend I'm not in pain from cramping or my patience level is at normal. But, to my friends, I'm the young woman that has a fascination with periods.

After watching the f8 keynote about the new Facebook soon to come and how it would get users more connected (like Spotify lets your friends know what you're listening to WHEN you're listening to it) I started thinking how funny it would be to have an app for women that tracked their menstrual cycle.

Megan just started her period!
Rachel has three more days until she's home free!
Tammy is currently cramping, bloated and fatigued.
Hilary suggests Tampax Pearls over Playtex Sport.

Yes, I understand this would be a tad bit excessive, but I decided to Google to see if any phone apps out there catered to tracking women's "time of the month."

Geeksugar.com did an article on the Period Tracker App for iPhones. This App tracks when you start, when you stop, when you're ovulating and fertile and when you get and can get intimate.

"The Period Tracker App costs $2 and is the ultimate menstrual mentor. You enter in your info, and it tracks your cycles, letting you keep notes about your activities and well being, all the while using twee 'lil hearts and flowers to denote important days (to be fair, "ovulation" would be too long to fit in those boxes)."

This is actually one of many apps out there that allow you to get in the know about your relative Aunt Flo. (That kind of rhymed.) My Pregnancy Baby (don't let the name scare you) posted a blog about the best of the best apps out there if you are serious about downloading a nifty tracker. Most are free and have passwords so not just anyone can pick up your phone and know if you're bleeding or not (was that too much?).

Things like this make me very excited and a bit nervous about the future of technology and social networking. What other little tricks like this will be used in a few years?

DIY Projects: What to expect

For those who don't know me, I have an utter addiction to HGTV and in consequence DIY projects. Young House Love is a site I visit frequently (and you should too!) and they inspired me, along with Pinterest, to start up on some projects that I've been wanting to try.

For this next month expect my own version of these:

These are paint samples! You can make awesome wall art for practically free (buy the pins or glue depending on where you put them) and you can let them free stand or have them framed!

So pretty and so easy! Used or new you can make these decorations no problem!

Don't throw away those bags of unused color pencils! Make a design out of them! Frame them!

Easy to make, easy to decorate yet beautiful!

Don't throw away your used crayons either! This is an awesome idea for a canvas with a big splash of color. New or used crayons would work!

So those are the things I will be doing while business is still keeping me really busy. Once everything settles down I will go bigger! I'll keep you updated on my hopefully successful attempts!

If I could use my mind to explode things...

...it would be this line of code: <ul class="sub" style="width:185px;">

I can only work for one of my clients after 10 p.m. (this is the only time their schedule allows it) and so when everyone starts dropping off to bed I'm still awake and just getting into the swing of things. Tonight (rather LAST night) I started working on their website in Wordpress.

Now, I have the biggest love/hate relationship with Wordpress. It can produce some of the most beautiful and efficient websites and yet it is as temperamental as a hormonal teenager--you say/type one wrong thing and it's game over.

But half of my clients are Wordpressers so I suck it up and make it work.
However, tonight I about had a meltdown. Around 2 a.m. I decided to call it quits and turn in, so I went ahead and made my back ups but then started to do one last thing.

I should have walked away!

I was editing some html when my computer crashed! Initially I wasn't upset, just annoyed. I had made backups and hadn't saved the edited code yet. However, I was wrong! Somehow my computer refused to save my back up (yes, I'm passing the blame on to the computer) and DID save the code. The code that uncompleted was wrong! At this point I was nervous but wrote the rest of the code anyways, but once completed it still wasn't working!

So from around 2:30 a.m. to 4:10 a.m. I edited, deleted, rewrote and created so many different forms of html to solve my problem. Finally, tucked away in the back of my brain, I pulled <ul class="sub" style="width:185px;"> after realizing that it was missing. Problem = Fixed.

The moral of the story? Back it up! And CHECK to make sure it is!

Facebook Timeline: How to get it now

There are many a blog out there that can step you through how to get the new Facebook Timeline without waiting for the next few weeks to join the masses. So I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and do one too.

Originally, I was going to wait like a good child for the Facebook change to come but caved after seeing a friend's profile with it. My conclusion on the change? I love it.

Let me step you through getting it early and you can see the digital beauty yourself.

1. Go to your search bar and type in "Facebook Developer" and click on the first result.

2. Click "Build Apps on Facebook."

3. You should get a Request for Permission for the Developer. Hit Allow. The App page will load and you need to click Create New App.

4. Name the App whatever you want (no uppercase letters) and check the box for accepting the Terms and Conditions. Facebook will ask you for a credit card number or your mobile number to make sure you are a human. I did the mobile number and they sent me a text lickity split with a code to confirm that I was human. Once you do this you should be able to create the app.

5. After this is done, go to the left sidebar and click Open Graph.

6. This is where Facebook shows you the whole new verb and noun abilities. Type in whatever you want. I did "People can 'read' a 'blog'" Then click get started. It will take you to some settings where you can change a few from default, but if you aren't really making an app for the app's sake this can be ignored.
7. Save the new app and then just go to your newsfeed. There should be an invitation to Get it Now. Then you have the new Timeline!

The first thing I did was play with the Cover on my profile. I'm not going to lie, it's weird!

Very easy but remember, only the people who have the new Facebook can see yours! So, go ahead and get yours today!
